Gaurav Kumar
I am Gaurav Kumar. I have been photographing weddings and families for close to a decade, and I still believe the best frames are the ones nobody posed for. I work quietly, I stay out of the way, and I hand back photographs that look like the people in them.
I work quietly. On a wedding day you will mostly not notice where I am, which is the point — the photographs that matter are the ones nobody was arranging themselves for. I will ask for perhaps twenty minutes of posed portraits, and spend the other eleven hours staying out of the way.
Based in Bangalore, India, travelling anywhere.

How it went
2016
First paid wedding
A friend's cousin, shot on one borrowed body and a 50mm. Still one of my favourite sets.
2018
Went full time
Left a desk job. Bought a second body, mostly so I would stop changing lenses at the wrong moment.
2021
Started travelling
Destination work across Himachal, Rajasthan and Goa. Learned to pack lighter.
2023
Built a small team
A second shooter and an editor, so families get their photographs in weeks rather than months.
2026
Still at it
Around forty weddings a year, and a growing number of families I have now photographed three times.
